L’Arche is an international community of people with intellectual disabilities and their live-in assistants who share life together as a family 24-7. Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of life in L’Arche. In Winnipeg, L’Arche has six homes and two independent living suites where 28 people with a disability and over 25 volunteer assistants live. Our office and four of our homes are located in Transcona. At
its core, L’Arche is about recognizing the unique value of each person
and our need for one another, regardless of race, religion, culture or
ability. Our community is about accepting each other for who we are
today and sharing our lives together in a spirit of respect and
celebration. It’s about
engaging in our diverse cultures and working together toward a more
human society. Funds raised in this year’s walk will be used to help upgrade homes and vehicles to improve the quality of life for L'Arche members with developmental disabilities. Experience
