Donations made to an endowment fund are invested for the long-term
An endowment fund is an investment in the future of L’Arche Winnipeg
A named endowment fund is a deeply personal statement about who you are and what you care about. It is a sign of your belief in L’Arche to help build a world of inclusion and belonging for people of all abilities. An endowment fund can be named in honour of a loved one, a family or family member, or a donor. Donations made to an endowment fund are invested for the long-term. Each year the endowment fund disburses a grant to support the mission of L’Arche Winnipeg. Once established, a named endowment fund continues in perpetuity.
Frequently Asked Questions
- The growth of L’Arche Winnipeg through new homes and apartments includes important accessibility improvements in our six existing homes. These changes help ensure our community members have safe, comfortable, and accessible places to live as our organization continues to expand.
- Support for our social enterprise, the L’Arche Tova Café, helps us expand our capacity and increase the number of locations. This growth creates more job‑training and mentoring opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities in our community, strengthening inclusion and meaningful employment.
- The growth of our Community Circle Day Program which offers interest‑based activities that promote healthy living, creativity, and friendships for members who are retired or nearing retirement. When seniors with disabilities retire, they lose access to government‑funded day programming, leaving them at higher risk of isolation. This program combats that by providing a space where seniors can continue sharing their gifts and staying connected to the community as they age
- Leadership development for people with and without intellectual disabilities that supports their empowerment to carry responsibility in their communities and their lives.
$50,000 is the minimum gift to establish a named endowment fund. The endowment agreement between L’Arche Winnipeg and the donor ensures that the fund you create will continue in perpetuity in the name you have chosen. Friends, colleagues and family members are welcome to make additional donations to a named endowment fund once established. Bequests to L’Arche Winnipeg may also be directed to a named endowment fund. The donor or designated family member or representative will receive an annual report that includes a financial update on the endowment fund.
